Deacon Joseph was born on May 19, 1930 in Lowndes County, Montgomery, AL. to the late Mr. Manning Perdue and Veola Chambers Perdue. He attended Calhoun School and Daniel Payne School. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he met and married Sister Jeraldene Hadnot. They were blessed with two sons, Alfonzo and Jeffery Perdue. He was employed at Pemco and in 1999, retired after 47 years. In 2002, he married Sister Shirley Smith, and they were blessed with 16 years of matrimonial happiness. In the early 1960's, Deacon Perdue was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost at Emmanuel Temple Holiness Church pastored by the late Bishop Isaiah Jackson. He transitioned his membership to Faith Apostolic Church which was under the leadership of the late Bishop Heron Johnson. Throughout his walk with Christ, he was known for his extensive knowledge of the Word of God and his tenure as a Sunday School teacher was one of the longest in the church. He had also been elevated to the position of Deacon under Bishop Johnson, and, at the time of his death, held the honor of being the oldest Deacon on the Board, serving faithfully under the leadership of Bishop Michael Bender. He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife Sister Shirley Smith- Perdue, two sons, Alphonso(Denise) Perdue and Jeffery Perdue. Siblings Elizabeth Newsome, Ellis(Debra), Jean(Nathan), Billy and Mollie.Grandchildren, Tracie, Joseph, Devalci, Devera, Jeanette and Norman, Ten Great Grandchildren and a host of other relatives, and friends.
